Here you can send your petition to World Vision
Dear Scott Brown, dear Christoph Waffenschmidt, World Vision is providing child-sponsorships in countries or regions where the female children are submitted to genital mutilations. I found out that World Vision refuses to demand and guarantee protection from this violence to the sponsored girls. So, these girls are helplessly delivered to female genital mutilation. World Vision does not even stipulate the abandonment of FGM as a basic precondition for any financial and material support for the communities in these regions, nor verifies or examines the physical intactness of the sponsored female children. In 1989, the UN-Convention for the Rights of the Child was created as an important instrument to call for the respect of the rights of children, of course in the field of development-aid too. This convention has been signed and ratified by the governments of all countries where World Vision is running projects. With World Vision’s policy of tolerating and accepting the mutilation of the sponsored girls, your organisation is counteracting the UN-childrens’ rights convention and also ignores the special responsibility WVI has to fulfill for the sponsored children. The suffering of the victims of female genital mutilation and the damage this practice implies to the entire society can never be compensated with money nor with other resources. Therefore, I ask you insistently to immediately change World Vision's policy in order to priorise the most fundamental childrens’ rights. In particular, the abandonment of avoidable violence like female genital mutilation has to explicitely be fixed in your basic preconditions of support. The abolition of female genital mutilation has actively to be demanded from all - mostly male - decision makers in the relevant countries/regions beforehand. If there are decision makers who insist in continuing the mutilations, World Vision has to stop any further financial or material support. I ask you to invest any donations and material support ONLY to those communities who give a clear sign that they are really willing to develop - by accepting and respecting the new conditions which priorise the protection of the children from violence and avoidable sufferance. I ask you to make sure that - from now on - every single sponsored female child is measur-ably protected from genital mutilation! Sincerely yours,

Attention! If anyway, you DO NOT sponsor a child, please simply enter your name and E-Mail-adress into the boxes above and click "submit" to send the letter. The boxes "name" and "number" of the sponsored child remain empty. If until now, you DO sponsor a child with World Vision but you would like to underline your insistence for your demand, we suggest you to "freeze" the sponsorship-contract until World Vision finally implements the protection measures to make sure that all sponsored girls are safely protected from female genital mutilation. If you decide to do so, please continue here: As I do not accept World Vision's current policy of tolerance towards genital mutilations on the sponsored girls, I herewith give proof of my seriousness and terminate without notice my current contract of sponsorship. As long as World Vision does not guarantee the protection of the sponsored girls from female genital mutilation, I refuse any further financial support to your organisation:
